The highly-awaited Season 2 of the musical adult cartoon Hazbin Hotel launches on the streaming platform soon, and fan speculation has been intense.
Season 1 introduces a large cast of characters residing in Hell and Heaven, sets them at odds with songs about their clashes, and establishes tense rivalries and emotional bonds that drive fan obsession.
The community's expectations for the new season differ greatly, but certain themes emerge over and over: Could a fan-favorite character break free from Valentino? Might we learn more about the binding agreement constraining the enigmatic Alastor? Will [favorite character] and [other character] finally get together?
"Naturally, I don't make the show with fan service as the main goal," the creator commented earlier this year. "But I believe that me being a devotee of the series means there's a lot of it just inherently. I also want to see these things, and I hope some of these things to occur, and obviously some of these things are meant to happen in the show!"
She reveals her long-term vision is for a five-season run of Hazbin Hotel. Seasons 3 and 4 have already been green-lit by the production companies, which produce the series.
That could imply fans have to wait years for some of the biggest payoffs — but they may be surprised at how quickly season 2 moves, and how much of what they're anticipating unfolds now.
"I believe people are going to get a lot out of it," the creator notes. "We get some firsts. I think we get some really amazing reveals, some really cool origin tales, and even just simple things, [like] I hope this character gets a song. […] We're going to hear much more singing from the previously silent cast members."
She's certainly aware of the guesses and hopes about the upcoming season — especially in the format of fan bingo cards.
"I've seen a couple people make a prediction grid about the new season," she says. "Naturally I won't share it, but I've already completed some of them, and almost all of them have almost a bingo. I thought, Oh, if you put this [event] in this spot, it would be a bingo. So that leads me to believe we do a lot [of what fans are waiting for in this season], because I was like, Oh, there's multiple potential bingos on this card. So that brings me joy."
Hazbin Hotel the second season premieres on Prime Video on October 29.
